OLAFUR ELIASSON RESEARCH

Olafur Eliasson is an Danish artists who creates installations, predominantly using the interaction between humans and light to create the immersive art. he uses reflection, shadows and rainbow effects to 'play with the way we perceive and interact with the world'. (Tate, n.d.) His interest in geometry, colour theory and motion patters are reflected into his work as he uses his research to aid his creative practice. His works are linked to topical political issues such as climate change, migration architecture and energy. in an interview with Lily Cole (Tate, n.d.) Eliasson discusses how his audience 'co- produces the experience' with him. he experiments with the set up of the shorts that would interact with the audience to create the art work he invisions. He also implies how he wants the audience to engage in the debates he presents through his art. I think that by creating environments for viewers to experience he is able to immerse the viewer in these issues and by including them in the art and installations he can encourage the viewer to reflect on the impact they have on changing the issues we face with environmental issues. I think that I want to use this concept when presenting my my final outcome. I think it could be interesting to portray some sort of coloured light etc onto the tapestry and hanging fabric to create reflections of the viewers onto the tapestry making them further immersed into the feeling of a dopamine high I'm trying to portray. I think it could also be interesting to help them reflect on the issues surrounding dopamine snd make them aware of the dramatic emotional contrast between a dopamine high and a dopamine low.
